The friction snubber features a barrel containing three segmented shoes – these are faced with a long-wearing, molded brake lining that is attached using a special bonding process. Due to the constant pressure of a pre-compressed coil spring, the shoes are forced outward against the barrel. Uniform friction resistance is ensured through the combination of material and finish in the lining and barrel.
Mountings are specially designed to provide “universal joint” action, accommodating any change in snubber angularity caused by relative movements between the mounting members and eliminate backlash in the system.
