KONI at the European Busworld with two new products

Oud Beijerland, 19th October 2011 – from 21st to 26th October 2011 at this year's European Busworld in Kortrijk KONI will present two brand new products at once – the New Generation Bus Damper and the Air Spring Damper Module. The innovative shock absorbers will have their first showing to the public at Stand R-38 on the Rambla. Both the New Generation Bus Damper and the Air Spring Damper Module will be available as OEM products shortly after the trade fair and will be able to be fitted into almost every vehicle.

The Air Spring Damper Module
Integrating the dampers and the air springs into one unit makes the Air Spring Damper Module particularly compact and space-saving. This reduces the time needed to install it into the respective vehicle. Amongst other items the Hydraulic Rebound System (HRS) helps to ensure safety. This construction reduces the piston speed when extending before it can touch the piston guide. The movement is thus slowed down by about 20 mm by a hydraulic end stop valve at the end of the highly reliable suspension. The vehicle thus has the best possible stability at all times. A technically perfected transfer between dampers and air bellows minimises any air loss, reduces the operating time of the air pump and thereby ensures lower fuel consumption. The Air Spring Damper Module can be combined with the patented FSD Technology with no problems at all.

The New Generation Bus Damper
With its modular design the New Generation Bus Damper offers high flexibility in its construction. Regardless of whether for use in large or small batches, thanks to the Modular Piston Design customers are provided with a made-to-measure product tailor-made for their requirements. Due to the highly developed components this innovative shock absorbers are also noise optimized. Characteristics such as performance curves and damping forces can be individually defined. With the help of the highly efficient Metal Bottom Forming Technology these new Bus shock absorbers can be made extremely robust and solid. Despite the great strength of the materials the New Generation Bus Dampers are comparatively light. The New Generation Bus Dampers can also be combined without any problems with the FSD Technology and also possess the Hydraulic Rebound System.

FSD Technology specially tailored for Bus shock absorbers – range expanded

KONI has optimised its revolutionary technology Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) for use in buses.  When using conventional dampers a plus in road holding is always lost to comfort and vice versa. According to requirement FSD adjusts the current damping force in relation to the vehicle's frequency of movement. This solution reacts far better to various driving situations than electronic systems. Comfort and handling no longer contradict one another. The driver of a bus thus steers a vehicle, which work intelligently with him and makes his job easier.
