Demands for even higher standards of rail speed and passenger comfort are universal. Hydraulic dampers are playing an increasingly important role. They are an integral part of the bogie. Both horizontal and vertical damping is necessary to transform the kinetic energy into thermal energy that is temporarily absorbed by the suspension system. A bogie often requires up to ten hydraulic dampers.

Dampers may also be necessary to counteract hunting movements of the bogies, or anti-roll and intercar dampers to control the movements between coaches.

KONI is known being the railway damper specialist par excellence. We commit ourselves to deliver to our customers the finest quality product with the best performances.

KONI has vast experience and a worldwide reputation for optimising their products for any specific application. Our engineers ensure that every product is manufactured to meet the highest standards of the Railroad Industry.

This philosophy results in an unequalled lifetime, superb damping performance and maximum customer satisfaction. Our philosophy is a no-compromise one.

With the current generation of railway dampers KONI introduced the following features:

- low-friction, long-life piston rod seal non-metallic bearings between piston rod and guide and between cylinder and piston, which results in no metal-to-metal contact and thus further reducing of wear

- noise-free valving systems in secondary dampers, including yaw dampers

- easily adjustable damping forces
